Over the last 15 years a lot of work has been done to restore the ancient pier at Culross and it is now a popular destination for visitors- but not yet for sailors! This year we have cleared a large amount of stone surrounding the pier and added marker posts to the end of the pier and to Ailie Rocks that lie to the east. To encourage more visitors by boat we are offering two free pints of Culross Ale (or Tennents if preferred) to the first twenty boats that night stop at anchor or tie up alongside the pier. The aerial photo shows the area cleared of stone in green but boat owners must first check the harbour and anchorage at low tide to check it is suitable for their boat. Note that there is 1m greater depth on the west face of the pier. Culross has a pub, cafes, historic buildings, public toilets and a weekly Sunday market. Its popularity has increased due to filming for Outlander, Captain America etc.
