Westerly Fulmar ‘Fingal’

£18,000 ono

The recent sad death of my co-owner forces me to part with this superb boat. I will, however, consider shared ownership with the right person or people, so if you’d be interested in buying a share, get in touch.
Fingal is a 32-ft, fin/single-keeled Westerly Fulmar, built in 1982, and berthed at Port Edgar, South Queensferry. In keeping with fin-keeled Fulmars’ reputation, it sails exceptionally well, with good speed, and impressive performance against wind and tide. Thanks to generous investment by a previous owner, she is well equipped for voyaging.

Statistics:

LOA: 9.7m / 31ft 10in
Beam: 3.33m / 10ft 11in
Draft: 1.6m / 5ft 3in
Displacement: 4.2 tonnes / 9,900 pounds
Fuel tank: 90 litres
Water tank: 135 litres

Equipment – sailing:

New white sails about 8 years ago
Spinnaker, not used in past 7 years, and spinnaker pole
6 winches (2 of which are self-tailing and twin-speed)
Lazy jacks
Sail cover, refurbished during winter 2024-25
Cockpit spray hood, also refurbished during winter 2024-25
Self-draining cockpit
2 cockpit compasses
Anchor and chain (not measured, but probably more than 40 metres), and spare anchor warp.
A traveller has been installed midway across the cockpit by a previous owner, presumably to improve the mainsail’s performance. The original traveller at the stern is still in place, so the next owner could revert to it if they found the new one uncomfortable.

Mechanical

Very reliable Beta 25hp engine (682 hours). Serviced summer 2025
Feathering, twin-blade prop.
Good access to engine and gearbox from saloon and cockpit locker

Hull, keel, prop and prop shaft cleaned, treated and painted in Spring 2025
Maintenance and sailing logs back to 2017.
Not raced in recent years.
I’ll be honest: it’s got a bit scruffy over the years. The headlining and GRP could do with a bit of TLC, but that’s hardly front of mind when you’re bowling along at 6.5 knots on a balmy summer’s day!
