  • FYCA Internet web site publicises events, results, cruising information, links to club web sites, berthing information, weather forecasts, tide tables, etc.
  • FYCA regularly updates & circulates Sailing Secretaries list to member clubs
  • FYCA Executive meets bi-monthly & runs Spring & Autumn general meetings

SETTING THE RACING CALENDAR:

  • FYCA promotes open racing events & consensus on calendar format
  • FYCA publishes Leith weekend tidal data to clubs ~16 months ahead of season
  • FYCA coordinates Open Events calendar & distributes it to clubs

ENCOURAGING PARTICIPATION:

  • FYCA tracks & awards the Forth yacht and dinghy championships
  • FYCA tracks & awards the Forth Inshore Group (FIG) series for Div-1 & Div-2 yachts o FYCA encourages less experienced crews  with ‘Restricted Sail’ option for 2015
  • FYCA supports the Disability Sailing Trust at Lochore Meadows

FAIR YACHT HANDICAPS:

  • FYCA defines the policy of the Yacht Handicap Committee
  • FYCA analyses performances, sets yacht handicaps & publishes them on web site
  • FYCA Yacht Performance Database has ~35,000 performances over 1996-2014

EQUIPMENT & DATA:

  • FYCA maintains a set of race marks & ground tackle for major events
  • FYCA sponsored Club Mark-layer course in May 2015
  • FYCA is developing event management & race planning guidance for clubs
  • FYCA licenses & purchases UKHO annual Leith tide tables for club distribution
  • FYCA is cooperating with IMRAY to provide data for new east coast pilot book

SAFETY STANDARDS:

  • FYCA publishes Yacht Construction and Equipment Standards for racing
  • FYCA Safety Committee reviews regulations and exemption requests

EAST COAST SAILING FESTIVAL:

  • FYCA participates on the ECSF Steering Group o FYCA co-ordinates ECSF on Firth of Forth every second year
  • FYCA promotes feeder races to ECSF on Tay and in NE England

REPRESENTATION:

  • FYCA represents member clubs interests with Forth Ports, Forth Estuary Forum, RYA (Scotland), Inland Waterways, local councils, Scottish Government, etc.
