Forth Series Conditions 2019

  1. Sailing Instructions and Events
    Notice of race, Sailing Instructions and entry form for each race will be issued by the organising club, they will be posted on the FYCA web site.
    The Forth Series consists of 6 events for Division 1 and 9 events for Division 2 as shown in the Fixtures.
  2. Eligibility
    The Forth Series is open to all yachts whose owners are members of FYCA affiliated clubs. Entry to the Forth series is automatic as soon as a yacht enters an event in the series. Race entry forms and fees must be submitted to Host Clubs
    Yachts must have a valid FYCA Handicap as shown in the current FYCA Progressive Handicap list. To determine div1/2 class splits for series results only the base handicap shall be used.
  3. Results
    Results will be as provided by the organising clubs and for the purposes of this series the FYCA will take no view regarding class limits, handicaps used or any matter pertaining to the race/regatta organisation or calculation of results.
    It is the responsibility of member clubs to provide race/regatta results to the FYCA. This should be within one week of the race/regatta and must include adequate information to identify each competing yacht. Failure to produce satisfactory results may result in exclusion of the race/regatta from the series.
    Forth Series interim and final results will be published on the FYCA web site at www.fyca.org.uk. This will be in the form of a listing of all qualifying yachts with as much results detail as is practical.
  4. Scoring
    Each Division 1 boat’s Series score will be the sum of her best 4 scores in the 6 race series. This amends rule A2.
    Each Division 2 boats Series score will be the sum of her best 5 scores in the 9 race series. This amends rule A2.
    The RRS Low Point Scoring System shall be used, rule A4.
    A series tie shall be broken using rule A8.1. If a tie remains an amended rule A8.2 shall be applied using only events where two or more of the tied yachts competed. If a tie still remains this shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) that have finished ahead of the larger number of yachts in their counting events. For the purposes of this rule only yachts that have correctly started at least one race within the qualifying event shall be counted.
    Any yacht not featuring in the results or not correctly starting a race for at least one race of a qualifying regatta will be scored as DNC and awarded 20 points.
  5. This value will be reviewed at the end of the series. Rule A9 does not apply.
    Yachts will score their finish place within their entered class for each race/regatta (including non spinnaker classes)
    For Div 1 Four races must be completed for the Series to be valid. For Div 2 Five races must be completed for the Series to be valid. (Both subject to review by the FYCA.)
  6. Prizes
    Prizes will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed boats in each of the Division 1 and Division 2 series.
